Wilmslow Albion 4 Northwest Fire 3
First Half - The Fire continued their worrying habit of producing a poor first half performance against a Wilmslow Albion side that will be a league rival of The Fire's next season. At times it looked like eleven strangers were attempting to play football as The Fire continually found opposition shirts with attempted passes. Wilmslow's domination saw them open up a 4-0 lead and The Fire were simply happy to get off the pitch at half time.

Second Half - 4 substitutions were made at half time as The Fire were grateful that this was just a friendly. A change in formation saw them adapt to a 3-5-2 and it seemed that it was a different side that played in the second half. Right from the off The Fire were all over their opposition seemingly winning every tackle and creating chances galore. Andy Baker signalled The Fire's intentions with a free kick that hit the bar and it wasn't long before Mike Thiele scored his first goal for the club. Dave Barnes, the Club Captain, then pounced to make it 4-2 after Pete Tristram saw his shot blocked. Pete Tristam added a 3rd and The Fire at this stage looked capable of winning the game. The Wilmslow goal then seemed to have a charmed life as 3 shots were cleared of the line and chances crept past the post. Despite creating many chances The Fire were unable to get the equaliser but will take great confidence into the season following their second half performance.

The crossbar denied Andy Baker a debut goal.
