Torpedo Grove 5 Northwest Fire 0
First Half - The Fire started this game brightly and took the game straight to their opponents. Several chances were created in the opening 15 minutes with Lukoschek in particular unlucky to find the Torpedo Grove keeper in amazing form. The keeper was beaten once when Mike Bridge cut through the Torpedo defence but he was unlucky when his shot came back off the post. Spurred on by these let-offs Torpedo got stronger and started to get on top. The Fire were however defending well and it took a bit of good fortune for Torpedo to take the lead. A stinging shot was well save by Anthony Howard but he could only parry the shot out to a Torpedo player who put the ball into the net. Torpedo then got on top and it was no surprise that they scored a 2nd to go into the half leading 2-0.
Mike Bridge hit the post with the scores level

Second Half - The contest was over shortly after the restart. Despite the Fire starting the half well a thunderbolt shot from 35 yards gave Torpedo a 3-0 lead. After that it was largely a case of the Fire defence trying to keep the score down. A dubious decision to allow the Fire to play the advantage rather than have a free kick saw them lose the ball in a move that led to Torpedo's 4th goal. Injury to the Fire goalkeeper Anthony Howard saw him leave the game and Rob Clowes go in net. Rob was comfortable with everything thrown his way but was powerless to prevent Torpedo grabbing a 5th. Some good play late on by the Fire saw Dave Barnes hit the bar, Will Graty go close with a volley and the Torpedo keeper also made another excellent save. This was not to be the Fire's day!
Rob Clowes - had another impressive game
