| The Fire welcomed back top scorer Shaun Lloyd-Griffiths and introduced 2 new signings as they sought to get their season back on track after a few disappointing results, but found themselves in deep trouble as they conceded 2 soft goals in the opening 5 minutes. However with plenty of time still left in the match the Fire were able to dig themselves out of a hole and they soon reduced the arrears with Mike Bridge running from his won half before delicately placing the ball past the D&C keeper. Lee Knott, playing in an advanced role soon fired in the equaliser and with the Fire in the ascendancy James Gifford, getting just his second outfield start, curled home a long range mishit cross to give the Fire the lead. Fire skipper Andy Martin then thundered home a trademark header to give the Fire a 2 goal cushion at half time. |

Time 4-2 |
D&C came back at the Fire in the second half but the Fire defence was able to stand up to the pressure and the Fire took control of the game. Debutant Jake Lenahan got himself on the scoresheet after a good move involving substitute Lee Milner and Shaun Lloyd-Griffiths. Lee Knott smashed home a free kick to give the Fire their 6th and final goal of the match and complete an extraordinary turnaround. |
