Lge Match 4

The Fire had been outclassed when losing 5-0 to FC Apollo in a friendly in the summer and it was with that performace in mind that Player-Manaer Robert Green opted for a more defensive outlook in this match. The plan worked well in the first half as despite FC Apollo dominating proceedings they didn't create many chances and after half an hour seemed to run out of ideas which encouraged the Fire to be a bit more adventurous and a couple of times they created and squandered good openings.
Half Time 0-0

The 2nd half saw FC Apollo come out attacking once more but just as they looked to be getting frustrated again they snatched the lead when a shot from outside the area took a slight deflection to deceive James Gifford in the Fire goal. FC Apollo soon added a second with another long range strike and it looked ominous for the Fire but they gamely got themselves back into the game with a fine finish from Dave Barnes smashing home a ferocious strike. With the Fire taking the game to their opponents they succumbed to a sucker blow and at 3-1 it was game over. FC Apollo added two more late goals before the Fire brought on Gavin Harris, their new signing, to make his debut in goal for the last few minutes.
